Why community access matters for auto transport
A loaded car hauler is roughly 75 feet long and cannot turn around in a cul-de-sac, back out of a narrow lane or clear a low garage entrance. In a city that is largely made up of gated subdivisions, golf communities, 55+ villages and secured apartment buildings, that means the driver frequently cannot simply pull up to your front door.
None of this is a problem when it is known in advance. It becomes a problem when the driver arrives at a guard gate that has no record of them, or finds an association rule barring commercial vehicles from interior streets. That is why our quote form asks for your community and access details up front, and why those details travel with the order to the assigned carrier.
What we pass to the carrier
- Community name and type (apartment, condo, gated, golf, villa/townhome, 55+)
- Whether the property is gated or has controlled access, and what kind
- Your written pickup or delivery instructions — guard gate, loading area, concierge, visitor entrance, truck restrictions
- City and market, so we can plan the leg realistically
Never send gate codes or access PINs through a web form. Give those to your driver directly when they call ahead.
Before pickup or delivery day
- Call your guard house or management office and add the carrier to the visitor list
- Ask whether commercial vehicles are allowed on interior streets, and during what hours
- Identify a nearby wide street, clubhouse lot or shopping center that can take a full-size truck if the interior cannot
- For apartments and condos, confirm the garage clearance — car haulers cannot enter a structured garage
- Confirm who will be present to sign the Bill of Lading if you are traveling
